All children in Canton are eligible to receive a free lunch this summer because of a USDA grant received by Douglas Community Services.
Beginning on Monday, June 2, lunch will be served in Central Park in Canton (across from the US Post Office). Nutritious sack lunches will be available from 11:30 am-12:30 pm.
“When school is not in session, families may struggle economically to provide these meals. This grant from the USDA enables every child to have a free lunch this summer,” said Stacey Nicholas, RSVP Director at Douglass Community Services
Nice weather days, lunches will be served in the park. On rainy days, lunches will be served at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 601 Washington St., Canton.
There is no economic requirement for the lunches which are free to children and youth through age 18.
