Canton R-V Agriculture Education teacher, Lezlie Durst, and her family, represented Lewis County at the Missouri State Fair this past August as the Lewis County Farm Family.
A Missouri farm family is a family recognized and celebrated through the annual Missouri Farm Family Day, a partnership including the Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri State Fair, the University of Missouri, and its College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, and MU Extension.
Each year, every county in Missouri nominates a farm family who exemplifies strong farming operations, active community involvement, leadership, and commitment to youth programs and agricultural education, to be honored at the Missouri State Fair. These families highlight the significant role they play in the state's economy and heritage, representing various types of farming operations from row crops and livestock to orchards and urban farming.
